Rørvik is one of the most active fishing communities in Norway. Hire a boat with or without a crew and explore the archipelago. The coastal town and local administrative centre of Rørvik is situated on a busy shipping route. The town buzz with life every evening when the north and south-bound coastal express ships arrives.
NORWEG
The national culture centre of coastal Norway- NORVEG was officially opened by the Norwegian King last summer. The centre focuses on the 10 000 year history of the coast and the fishing industry. You will find the arcitecture inspired by the maritime way of life (the boat and the sail), and the name Norveg means “the way to the north”. The center is located in the small coastal town Rørvik and when you are here, also visit the old store at Berggården.
SØR-GJÆSLINGAN FISHINGVILLAGE
Visit Sør-Gjæslingan, a village that once was home to about 4,000 fishermen. Spend the night in one of the preserved fisherman’s huts and discover the area’s exciting coastal heritage. You can reach Sør-Gjæslingan (an island) by fast ferry from Rørvik and Namsos in summer or by hired boat from Rørvik.
ROUND TRIPS
Take a trip, by car or bike, to the Husfjellet mountain near Garstad, around 36 km from Rørvik, and enjoy the magnificent views of Folla and sixteen different municipalities. The mountain peak, which is accessible by car, also hosts Norway’s first wind mill farm. Charter boats for groups available.
